How we do it
Coach Fountain firmly believes in a methodical 'Process Based' approach to coaching cricket players.
It begins with an assessment of exactly where the athlete is currently with their ability, then after a discussion about their cricket goals and objectives, a realistic growth pathway is created, mapping out the steps it will take to achieve these goals.
Goals will vary, depending upon the athlete. A professional who is between contracts has very different objectives to a young player starting out. Time scale, availability and commitment all play a part in shaping this roadmap.
Coach Fountain incorporates a mixture of traditional methods, coupled with the use of sports technology, in order to increase an athlete's overall ability. He utilises over two decades of experience working with some of the worlds top professional cricket players, in order to grow the player, technically, tactically, physically and mentally.
He believes that the goal of a good coach is for the athlete to ultimately have control of their own progress, and encourages players to take ownership, good & bad, at every stage.
Ultimately, his aim is to be able to reduce the amount of input required externally, and increase the athletes ability to identify areas of strength / weakness themselves, leading to a players success or failure being placed firmly in their own hands.
Coach Fountain's objective is to develop the overall athlete, not merely 'Fix' problems, and as the saying goes
"Ultimately it is you who has to actually play the ball in the game, not your coach. You'd better be ready"
